Snippet #16
Jul. 25th, 2003 09:27 pmCharles Gunn
He's a hundred different kinds of a fool, and he knows it. What's worse is that he's pretty sure everybody else here knows it, too.
Gunn isn't used to being played a fool -- time was a thing like that got a man killed. Or kicked back out onto the street which was damn near the same thing. But this isn't that sort of place, and his friends now aren't going to hold to principle over whatever it is that keeps them friends.
Too much beer and Playstation, he thinks. God, it's almost normal.
He needs to get away from this before he starts humming theme songs from sitcoms he never grew up watching, but has seen too many of lately because somebody has TVLand and watches it like it's entertainment.
That's his story and he's sticking to it. No matter what anybody says, no matter how much Wesley looks at him like he's trying real hard not to laugh but as soon as everybody else leaves the room it's all over. The only chance Gunn has of shutting him up, first, is kissing him. Not that there's any bad there.
Gunn glares, and it doesn't help.
"I do *not* like the Andy Griffith Show," he says again. "I don't even watch it. It was a slip of the tongue and I don't even know who she is."
Cordelia just pats his hand. "It's OK. Sometimes Angel reminds me of Aunt Bea, too."
