Vader moved into the room, feeling as though he should have been storming in - loudly, with walls trembling and frightened shouts from those within. There was nothing, of course, because it was merely the ship's bridge and here, on this ship, everyone was accustomed to his presence.
They were still frightened of him. He could feel that without even trying. But they only glanced over their shoulders at him when they thought he wouldn't notice, and flinched only when he walked past their duty stations, or spoke to someone nearby.
When he spoke to them, not a one of them flinched. Standing ramrod straight, eyes front and entire body motionless except for the tongue, they answered as quickly as possible whatever question he gave. He'd trained them well.
At times he wished he could feel the walls tremble when he walked into a room. Tangible evidence that anyone, even stone-deaf, mind-numb, and Force-blind could see. Anyone would know who, and what, had entered the room, no matter how stupid or ignorant or innocent. Here on his own flagship, naturally there were none of any of those sorts to be found. He had no real purpose for people of that nature - useless, they were, except to amuse him by their cowering when he walked in.
Vader was tempted to take a trip planetside, visit the peoples and call it a diplomatic mission. Take a turn through the streets just to see who ran. There were four inhabited planets nearby, any of which would serve for his amusement. He'd even been on two of them before, though years back and under entirely different circumstances. One of them was a year back, when the newly instituted ruling body was encountering trouble in the name of the governor's unwillingness to discipline members of his own clan. The other he didn't recall beyond the familiarity of the name, so he knew it must have been years ago, and a trivial reason for going.
He picked among the other two, at random, and gave the order to his Captain.
