Faith ignored the unexplained noise from long years of being a mother.
*thump*
Scanning the streets, she couldn't see anything that appeared at all odd, unusual, or worthy of attention. She watched carefully anyhow, because the alternative was--
*thumpsquish*
She turned to look, and gaped. "Bosco! What the hell--?"
Bosco looked up from where he was cleaning up a half-squished orange from the floorboards and his pants. "These things don't bounce very well."
"It's an *orange*," she began, then shook her head. This was why she was staring at nothing -- to avoid talking to Bosco who was as bored as she was, but less able to sit still. She inhaled, and it dawned on her what he'd done. "Way to go, Bos. Now the vehicle's gonna smell like orange the rest of the night!"
Bosco just grinned at her. "So *now* do you wanna stop at Mo's for some orange sherbet?"
Faith rolled her eyes, said a word or two under her breath...then reached for the key. "You're buying."
