Snippet #12
Jul. 20th, 2003 06:22 pmBobby Caffey
Bobby loves his job. He even loves it on those days when things are so bad that he has to remind himself that he loves his job so he doesn't turn in his resignation right there.
But he really does love his job. Loves it even more, now that his family has expanded in weird, wonderful, mind-boggling ways. And maybe that's why he has to tell himself he loves his job now.
Because he's lying in bed, and the sun has been up for long enough that even somebody who goes to work at 3pm should really be getting up and finding clothes and breakfast and car keys. But nobody else is moving, and they all have to be to work at three, and the bed is just so damned warm and full of people to cuddle, that he can't quite figure out why it is that he's going to work.
Someone else can pay the bills, right? Someone other than whoever it is he's got under his left arm, and whoever it is that's plastered against his back. They can find another couple of spouses who want to work for a living, and Bobby can stay in bed all day and do other things.
Except he's pretty sure that's why they wanted him.
