FaaS Snippet 8
Jan. 7th, 2002 12:45 pmThere was a knock at the door. Bosco had jerked awake from where he'd been dozing on the couch, right before he heard it. Stretching, being careful of his shoulder, he stood up and headed towards the door. Probably Jimmy - he was hoping it was Jimmy. Yokas had gone, and he didn't think anyone else would be dropping by, now.
There was a second knock before he reached the door. "All right! Coming!" he yelled.
"Better not be," came an amused reply. Jimmy. Bosco hurried the last few steps and began unlatching the locks. He pulled the door open to find Jimmy standing there, as expected. Obviously come right from work - he looked rather like he might have changed in a hurry at the end of his shift. His shirt was wrinkled and his hair rumpled, but he grinned as soon as he saw Bosco. "Gonna let me in?"
"Depends," Bosco returned. "If you're gonna yell, do it out in the hall. It'll keep you polite."
Jimmy just raised an eyebrow, to ask if he were kidding. Then, "Why am I gonna yell? You're all right, aren't you?" His gaze ran quickly down, then up Bosco's body. It wasn't *that* sort of look, but it gave Bosco the shivers, all the same.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Bosco stepped back and let Jimmy into the apartment. "I just figured - everyone else has been tearing my head off...."
"Poor baby," Jimmy said, in an exaggerated sweet tone. Then he leaned over and gave Bosco a kiss, before he could object to the sarcasm.
Bosco grabbed a second to shut and re-lock the door, before turning back to give Jimmy a piteous look. "You weren't there. You have no idea-"
"Actually, I do." Jimmy grinned. He leaned himself against the hallway wall, and reached out to put his hands on Bosco's hips. He didn't tug Bos forward, though Bosco was ready and willing. He started forward, but Jimmy held him back. "I got an earful from Kim," Jimmy explained.
"Why would she-"
"She wanted me to make sure you weren't doing anything else stupid," Jimmy interrupted. "A little irony there, I think. But...she's right. Anyone who's gonna pop his own shoulder back into place needs looking after." His tone was light, as if still teasing himself and Bosco. But the look in his eyes told Bos that perhaps he should be careful about how he went about begging for the TLC he'd been hoping for.
