Summary: Ianto's morning starts normally. And ends normally. And the middle is pretty normal, too.

Ianto tipped the dishes carefully into the sink; he hadn't enough time to wash up properly, so he settled for a quick rinse and left them for later. Admittedly, with his job 'later' could mean anything from half an hour to a couple of weeks. But he was running late and given the choice between staying to clean the dishes and being even more late for work -- well, his own kitchen didn't matter quite as much.

He grabbed his jacket on his way out of the tiny kitchen, veering towards the living room to give Penwyn a brief kiss to the top of his head. Curled up on the sofa, Penwyn didn't look like he had any intentions of stirring until Ianto was home -- or possibly later. "Be good," Ianto told him, and got an amused look in response. Ianto just smiled and dashed for the door.

He made it to the bus stop just in time, running up just as the second-to-last passenger boarded ahead of him. Ianto slipped his pass out of his pocket, glad for the three hundred and fifty seventh time that he'd been able to wrangle an annual pass out of the Torchwood budget. Simple, really, when you were the one submitting the forms; easier again when your boss didn't seem to care what you forged his signature on. He'd got everyone annual passes at the same time -- Toshiko had caught him looking for the proper forms on the Cardiff Bus website and had promised not to tell in exchange for one of her own. After that it seemed prudent to bribe Gwen and Owen as well, just in case -- and if Jack ever took a bus in Cardiff, or anywhere else, Ianto had never heard about it.

Ianto didn't take the bus often, but it was very nice to have the pass. For instance, when one's own automobile was in the shop -- again -- to repair damage done by marauding aliens. Granted, this time the marauding aliens had been almost seven inches tall and armed with toothpicks and ballpoint pens, but it had been enough to take out all four of Ianto's tyres. He'd managed to bend a rim driving on the flats, and as long as Torchwood was paying for car repairs he figured he might as well get the car's yearly service done at the same time.

The pay might be crap, but the benefits -- if one knew how to forge the boss' signature -- made up for it.

Ianto didn't mind taking the bus to work, it was nice to sit and watch the city go by and be in no more danger than being sat beside someone who hadn't washed in a few months. The only real downside was not being able to stop at Freria's for bagels; the only shop near the Hub hadn't anything for breakfast worth eating except fried donuts and Gwen had begged him to stop bringing them in until she could fit into her old jeans again.

He might just get one, he thought, as he got off the bus at the Millennium Centre. Just the one for himself, and Gwen couldn't be sore that he'd ruined her diet. Although the smell would take a few hours to dissipate....

And it might get his revenge for her sneaking in half a pound of de-caffeinated coffee beans into the canister in the break room.

He made the necessary detour, buying himself two donuts -- one for the walk to the Tourist Office and one for after he got to the Hub proper. Then it was into the Office and a quick check that everything was as it should be, and down the long stairway to the Hub. He was, as always, tempted to count the steps again but whenever he made up his mind to do so, he was already several steps down and this morning he didn't have the time to turn around and start again.

The first donut was eaten quickly, just a regular one and still warm. It made him think that dinner tonight might need to consist of a salad, or at least a few vegetables. Maybe dinner in, for a change. Spend some time with Penwyn before he got cranky.

Plans for the evening as settled as they could ever get, Ianto finally reached the cog door. He changed his grip on the bag, letting one end come open just enough to begin to let the smell out. Two steps into the Hub and--

"Ianto! Conference room!"

"Yes, sir," Ianto called back, pushing down a smile. Not sure if the order was intended to include a request for coffee, Ianto headed directly to the conference room. If it was the sort of emergency that didn't leave time for coffee-drinking, he didn't want to waste time. If they did want their coffee -- Ianto could conveniently leave his donut on the table while he fetched it.

Ianto frowned to himself. No, that would only get it stolen. By whom, it would be impossible to decide without consulting CCTV footage, but any of his co-workers would be suspect. He'd take it with him, then, if they needed coffee made.

The others were in the conference room already, seated around the table and facing the projection screen. Gwen was seated two away from Jack -- perfect. Ianto took the seat between them, and swiveled his seat around to face Owen, who was, apparently, leading today's meeting.

"You're late," Jack said mildly, sending him a sidelong look. Ianto set his bag on the table in front of him, noting the hopeful glances the others were sending towards it.

"Sorry, just the one," Ianto told them, taking the donut out and setting it carefully on a napkin. Then he looked at Jack, absently realizing Jack was waiting for a response. "Am I?" Surely he wasn't that late. He looked at his wrist watch. "Ah. Sorry; had to take the bus since my car got towed to the mechanic's yesterday. Would have caught the 5:15 but Penwyn wouldn't let me get out of bed."

Ianto had picked up the donut and carefully broke it into two halves, and was about to take a bite when he realized everyone was staring at him.

"Who's Penwyn, then?" Gwen asked, sounding concerned as she glanced from Ianto to Jack. Although she was also glaring at Ianto's donut.

"And do we have pictures?" Jack asked quickly, leaning forward with his elbows on the table, leering cheerfully. "Video?"

"Don't we have some sort of emergency?" Ianto gestured at Owen with his donut. He noted how Gwen's gaze seemed...locked on his hand. He carefully licked some of the powdered sugar off his fingers, and now Jack was staring at him as well.

"No emergency," Owen said. "Just needed to get everyone up to speed on-- you sure you didn't bring donuts for everybody? Christ, I can smell that thing all the way down here."

"You got it hot and fresh, didn't you?" Gwen accused.

"Yep," Ianto said, taking a bite and letting the powdered sugar get, well, wherever it wanted. His first donut had been a regular one, plain with nothing to get messy. This one -- revenge on Gwen and teasing Jack at the same time? Perfect.

"So, Penwyn?" This time the question came from Tosh.

"I actually do have a photo," Ianto said, and he laid the donut down. He wiped his fingers on a napkin, then inspected them and decided they weren't clean enough. Two fingers, into his mouth one at a time, and there was a sort of strangled noise from Jack. Then Ianto wiped his fingers dry and reached into his pocket to get his cellphone.

He dialed into the pictures folder and handed it to Toshiko -- ignoring the way Jack and Gwen both reached out to grab for it.

Tosh looked, her eyes growing wide, briefly, then she smiled. "Oh, he's handsome!" She handed the phone to Owen, who rolled his eyes but took it anyway. Gwen and Jack were obviously fighting urges to leap up and steal the phone.

Owen looked at the phone and stared for a moment. Then he shrugged. "Not my type, really." He gave the phone back to Ianto with a guarded smile in his eyes.

"Let me see!" Gwen snatched the phone out of Ianto's hand, then stopped. She stared at the picture, then looked at Ianto. She glanced at Jack with a concerned expression. "He is very handsome," she said after a moment.

Jack just held out his hand for the phone. Gwen looked from Jack to Ianto, then said, "I'll give you the phone if you steal the rest of his donut for me."

"Not a chance," Jack said. Ianto tore off another bit of donut and ate it, then slowly cleaned his fingers again. Jack seemed to have stopped breathing.

Suddenly there was a noise from Toshiko, and she was laughing. That set Owen and Gwen off -- who handed Ianto's phone over to Jack. Jack turned the phone around and looked -- at a picture Ianto had taken the night before, of the cat who'd shown up on his doorstep.

Jack gave Ianto a look which was, no doubt, meant to be scolding. But Ianto had just taken another bite of his donut, and knew for a fact he'd gotten powdered sugar on his nose.

"We're not getting through this briefing, are we?" Owen asked.

"I need a donut," Gwen said, and she stood up. "I might need two, and Ianto, you are buying me a whole new wardrobe after I've gained a stone."

"I'll buy everybody coffee and donuts," Owen said as he shut off the projection screen. "Which means the three of us because I don't think those two are even listening, anymore."

Jack didn't seem to be listening, Ianto thought, as he continued to stare at Ianto's face. Ianto waited as the others filed out of the room, and tried to wait until they'd got out of sight of the large glass wall through which anybody could see exactly what might be happening in the room.

But Jack reached over and took hold of Ianto's tie, and gently tugged him forward.

"Problem?" Ianto asked.

"You...are entirely too dressed." Jack leaned forward and licked powdered sugar off Ianto's nose, then off his lower lip.

"Sorry about that," Ianto offered. "Normally I don't get the powdered ones. Far too messy." He gave Jack a bland smile.

Jack grinned. "Except on Fridays, when everyone has been asking for a long weekend off. And it somehow falls to you to distract the boss."

Ianto gave him an innocent look, eyebrows up and no hint of a smile. Then he said, "Actually, this time I'm distracting you from reading the expense reports. Gwen and Tosh said something about shoes and Owen seems to have bought the entire pub a round of drinks."

Jack paused, then nodded. "Didn't you tell them you sign those things anyway?"

Finally, Ianto let himself smile. "Where's the fun in that? This way, I get donuts." He ate the last bite, letting the powder smear his fingers liberally. Jack took his hand and slowly sucked one finger into his mouth. Ianto inhaled sharply, and made a mental note -- next Friday was due to be warm and sunny. Perhaps the others would like to be given an unexpected long weekend off.

Next week, he decided, he'd get a chocolate eclair. Licking the cream out with his tongue always lead to the most fantastic blowjobs.
