He's nervous, which doesn't surprise him. But he had learned to hide his feelings before he was deemed old enough to enter school. He's always lived his life on some kind of edge, and being nervous -- scared -- has never, ever, stopped him. He knows it won't stop him now if only because he has a reputation to protect.
Not that anyone else will know he did this.
It's time, and Starbuck tries not to clear his throat first. Then he whispers in the dark, and wonders if it's cheating that he doesn't really know if Apollo is awake.
"Love you."
