Frodo grinned at him, then laughed. "Pippin! Stand still."
Pippin bounced again, shaking his head. "I can't! I can't help it." He danced around in a circle, then grabbed his cousin's hand and tugged him after. Frodo resisted, still smiling at him but pulling his hand free after a moment.
Pippin didn't seem to mind; he spun around in another circle then leapt into the air. "It's Thursday!" he shouted, as though anyone in the vicinity didn't know.
As though anyone seeing Pippin wouldn't have known exactly what day it was. Frodo tried again to calm him down, reaching for Pippin's shirt collar as he went by. Pippin bumped into him, grinned as his nose bumped into Frodo's chest. His bright green eyes were so bright with excitement that Frodo had to let him go.
"YEA!" Pippin shouted, and Frodo turned to look towards the door -- but there was no one there. Pippin shouted again, at the walls, and Frodo shook his head.
A moment later, though, the door opened. Pippin froze for a second, then was off like a shot. He collided with Merry, shouting his name and flinging his arms around Merry's neck.
Frodo shook his head. He could see why no one had had the heart to tell Pippin that Merry was only visiting for a month.
